BEAUTY NEWS: ROYAL WEDDING MAKEUP

10th Aug 2022

There is nothing we love more than a royal wedding and Princess Beatrice’s lockdown wedding was no exception. The pandemic did not stop the couple tying the knot in a small ceremony at The Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor. As expected, Beatrice looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day and despite only several pictures being released, Beatrice kept things simple and elegant with her beautiful bridal look.

The Princess bride chose to wear her strawberry blonde locks in gorgeous loose curls, finishing off the look with a diamond fringe tiara, which was also worn by the Queen on her own wedding day.

The royal beauty opted for natural makeup and here at WowHow we are obsessed! Here is our little break down of her look and some of our favourite products which can help you to achieve a similar finish. Don’t forget, if you download the WowHow app we have a dedicated section to natural and bridal makeup looks with step by step tutorials!

Princess Beatrice had her makeup look focused around a fresh complexion and the key to this is good skincare. As we get older, our skin becomes duller and it is one of the most common skin complaints. By following a good skin car regime this will really help to achieve a fresh and radiant complexion. Properly cleansing, exfoliating and toning the skin in combination with a serum, eye cream and moisturiser will help even the skin tone and allow skin to appear fresh. Drinking lots of water is another great way to achieve a clear complexion.

After skincare, using a dewy primer and a light foundation will complete your natural and youthful skin look. In the summer, to keep skin looking flawless try a BB or CC cream. These products provide a light and natural coverage, in a light formula so are perfect for a fresh complexion. Using a light product will ensure your makeup does not look thick or cakey whilst photographing beautifully! To create a lasting finish, set with a translucent powder; application with a powder brush will ensure product does not transfer or wear off throughout the day and blur any pores, finishing off the flawless look.

Next up, Beatrice’s makeup followed a popular bridal trend of defined eyes. The lid is washed with a neutral shade, whilst a medium brown eyeshadow had been worked into the crease and both lash lines. This provides definition and depth, without being too dramatic. Princess Beatrice and her sister have often commented on the Charlotte Tilbury being a staple in their makeup collection and here at WowHow we love it too! Using a mascara with a long a curled brush will allow for voluminous and separated lashes, providing a false lash effect.

Beatrice chose a peachy look for her big day which is perfect for a summer look. Her peach blush and lipstick created a youthful and fresh look, perfect for a neutral finish. Peach blush is used to brighten the skin and appear radiant when applied to the apples of the cheeks, so for a summer bride this is the best colour palette to choose! Some of our favourite peach blushers include the Nip and Fab liquid blush in “passion peach” and the L’Oreal skin awakening “life’s a peach”.

To apply the powder blush use a round, fluffy brush with well dispersed bristles. Start with a light hand at the apple of the cheek, slowly building up the product to the desired look. Take product up the cheekbone and towards the temple for a lifted and fresh finish. Whilst liquid blush can seem more scary, apply the product really lightly with your fingers, buffing it into the skin. Liquid blush needs to be applied directly after foundation application, similarly to the powder from the apple of the cheeks in an upwards motion to the temple. Liquid blush will melt perfectly into the skin giving the skin a natural and healthy glow. Whichever you choose, make sure to start off with a slight hand and build product and colour up in layers!
